While Howard and Maria Stark might seem, on the surface, to be the parents of Tony Stark/Iron Man, a fan theory suggests the hero's real mother might actually be Peggy Carter, Steve Rogers/Captain America's great love interest. In this video, we're going to go through the theory and explain just how it could happen.

Now, it's important to note that this is just a theory. However, there's a lot of compelling evidence to suggest Peggy might just be Tony's mother, even though there are a few glaring errors that we'll need to address first in order to make this viable. This theory also has a lot to do with the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D. as seen in Agent Carter. While there's a good chance this will never be confirmed since Steve, Peggy and Tony are all gone from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this might just become head canon for the superhero universe.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the MCU will take. While there's a good indication the characters Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Initially, Black Widow -- which reportedly has a cameo from Tony Stark actor Robert Downey Jr. that was filmed prior to his MCU exit -- was set to launch MCU Phase 4. However, that movie -- as well as various Disney+ shows and other films set in the MCU -- have been delayed as a result of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
