A lot of the best conflicts in the comics revolve around heroes and villains having interesting relationships, often times having previously been friends or allies. Spider-Man and Venom have a complicated relationship, with the latter being pretty obsessed with the former, so there's a lot you might not know about that relationship.

Spider-Man and Venom first met during the Secret Wars event, with the symbiote at first appearing to just be a black suit that Peter Parker got in order to replace one of his damaged suits. However, as Peter Parker became much more unstable, it was eventually revealed the suit was in fact an alien that had bonded with Spider-Man. The two have an incredibly special relationship, and the Venom symbiote is particularly atypical in terms of personality.

It's unclear when Venom and Spider-Man will meet up again on the big-screen. Tom Hardy previously said he wants his Venom to cross over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has also said he wants to take on Venom. Despite the hopes of both actors, there's no indication such a crossover will happen anytime soon. However, if Venom does enter the MCU, that might have major ramifications for Sony's spinoff film universe, which will get a new installment next year in the form of Morbius. There are also plans for a currently-untitled sequel to Venom for release in 2020 and films focused on other Spider-Man characters.
