The first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home revealed the first official look at Jake Gyllenhaal's Quentin Beck/Mysterio. If you're not a comic book fan, you might not be familiar with the character, who is one of the deadliest in the comics centering around Spider-Man.

First appearing in 1964's Amazing Spider-Man #13, Mysterio was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The character, who doesn't have any superpowers, is a special effects artist. Although films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe don't necessarily follow the comics too closely, we think that they might provide some good information about what to expect when the villain finally makes his big-screen debut.

Check out the video below for more that you might not have realized about Mysterio in the Far From Home trailer.

Far From Home will be the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the first trailer makes it appear that Mysterio will be one of Spider-Man's allies, there are a lot of fan theories speculating that he will, in fact, be the movie's villain. There's even some indication that the Elementals -- who serve as the bad guys in the trailer -- are actually illusions conjured up by Mysterio, though it's currently unclear at this time if that's the case. There's also a chance that the Elementals could just be working with Mysterio.

Gyllenhaal was rumored to be playing Mysterio following the announcement of his casting. Set photos and video confirmed that he would, in fact, play the character, and Gyllenhaal also teased the casting himself.
