First appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy, Drax the Destroyer immediately became a fan-favorite character for his inadvertent humor. The hero has since appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Infinity War, and he will likely return in Avengers: Endgame. However, there's a lot about Drax that you might not know.

The comics give a lot of insight into Drax, who has been around for a long time. Created by Jim Starlin and Mike Friedrich, the character first appeared in 1973's Iron Man #55. There have been a lot of different versions of Drax over the years, including one sporting a mustache. However, his origin is about as tragic as it is in the movies. After losing his family and life to Thanos, Drax was reborn with one goal: destroy the Mad Titan. He's single-minded in his quest to destroy Thanos, and he actually manages to succeed at his goal at one point.

There's a lot more to Drax's story than just his origin. Check out the video below for more of what you might not have realized about Drax the Destroyer.

Drax's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a bit less certain than fans might like. Actor Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, has repeatedly expressed his support for director James Gunn, who was fired after objectionable tweets from his past resurfaced. Bautista has expressed his desire to part ways with the franchise, so it's possible that his time in the MCU might end sooner rather than later. In October, Bautista expressed his desire to join Gunn's first project for Warner Bros. and DC: Suicide Squad 2. It's unclear at this time if Marvel Studios would replace Bautista or just write the character off entirely.

Following Gunn's firing, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was delayed indefinitely, so it's not clear at this time when the movie will come to theaters. There's some chance that reshoots for Endgame could be changing the film so as to accommodate the delay.
