VIDEO: What Nobody Realized About Black Widow and Ronin in the Avengers: Endgame Trailer

When first introduced to Black Widow and Hawkeye, many fans started thinking that there might be something going on between them. However, the introduction of the latter's family in Avengers: Age of Ultron and the former's relationship with Bruce Banner eventually put that ship to rest. Still, the second trailer for Avengers: Endgame contains a lot of information about their relationship.

Although the two had a romantic relationship in the comics and were at one point engaged, they have had nothing but a platonic friendship in the movies, which both of them sorely need. There's no reason to suspect that will change in Endgame. Instead, it might just be that Black Widow is there for Ronin in his darkest hour.

It's not totally clear at this time what spurred Barton to abandon his Hawkeye persona and become Ronin. However, a lot of fans figure that his family were victims of the snap. This would explain why he has taken on a darker persona in the coming film. There are also theories that the movie might see the introduction of Kate Bishop, who eventually takes up the mantle of Hawkeye.

Black Widow, for her part, is set to finally get her own solo film, though most reports indicate that it will be set in the past. It's unclear what her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the present timeline, though it's entirely possible that she'll die during the events of Endgame.
