Prior to his fight against Thanos at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) envisioned only one possible future in which the Mad Titan would be defeated. It's unclear how the Avengers will defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, but most fans figure that the Mad Titan obtaining the Time Stone is part of that future.

However, a new fan theory suggests that Doctor Strange was actually wrong about the future. There are a few reasons this might be the case. The biggest reason is that the Ancient One reveals that she was never able to see past the moment of her death. As Strange died at the end of the film, it seems odd that he'd be able to look past his own death, as there's no reason that this limitation wouldn't apply to him. This would suggest that there are futures that Strange was unable to see, but there's only one future in which Strange himself survives the battle against Thanos.

Check out the video below for more proof that Doctor Strange might have just been wrong about the future in Infinity War.

Although Strange appeared to die at the end of Infinity War, it's unlikely that he'll stay dead for long. There are already plans for a Doctor Strange 2, which could start filming as early as this spring. Scott Derrickson, who directed the first film, is expected to return for the sequel. Co-writer C. Robert Cargill revealed last April that he and Derrickson have a villain in mind for the film: Nightmare. There were originally plans for Nightmare to appear in Doctor Strange, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reportedly shut that idea down.
