Sony Pictures and Marvel have split, reportedly over financial details related to Peter Parker/Tom Holland appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since his debut in Captain America: Civil War, the character has become integral to the MCU, and Tom Holland, who plays Spidey, is definitely one of the most beloved superhero actors right now. As such, a lot Marvel stars have reacted to losing Spider-Man, with some taking it well and others being a bit more upset.

Holland himself initially kept his reaction to the news hidden, posting an unrelated Instagram photo that didn't address the event at all. However, he later commented on the change, saying he'll keep playing Spider-Man for the foreseeable future and that a third film is in the works. "There’s definitely more to come," he said. "We sat down with some of our creatives. We pitched Spider-Man 3, which is going to be something very special, it’s going to be something very different. I’m just so grateful that Marvel changed my life and allowed my dreams to come true and Sony allowing me to continue living my dream. It’s a crazy week and it’s never been done before so we’ll see how it goes and it’ll be as amazing and as fun.”

Although it doesn't seem likely, it's always possible Sony Pictures and Disney will reach some sort of agreement in the future. However, until then, Spider-Man seems likely to grow closer to the former studio's existing slate of MCU films, which include a sequel to Venom as well as Morbius and several other films. When Tom Holland will appear in those films -- or its character will debut in his -- remains to be seen, but it seems likely to happen sooner rather than later.
