Villains are one of the most important parts of any superhero story. Marvel Studios, Fox and Sony have all made great use of the villains available to them in crafting their movies. However, not every superhero film features a villain villain that charm fans, becoming a fan-favorite in the process. Instead, there are a few special villains that make fans, on some level, want to see them succeed, just because they're so darn likeable.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to making a villain likeable. The actor's performance is normally an important element, though it helps for the character to be sympathetic. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, characters such as Killmonger, Loki and Thanos have both of those qualities. But there are so many more villains that are often overlooked and/or forgotten when people talk about the greatest Marvel villains on the big screen.

In terms of the MCU's villains, it's unclear who will return in the future, as many villains have survived the events of the movies for which they played the protagonist. However, Marvel is set to regain the rights to many of the villains from Sony and Fox's films, giving Marvel Studios a chance to put its own spin on those beloved bad guys. The events of Avengers: Endgame will likely play a major role in determining which characters appear in the future and how future phases will introduce them.

There are still a lot of villains from the comics that haven't yet made it to the big screen, and Phase Four is sure to introduce fans to some great characters. That phase will start with Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is set to introduce Mysterio and The Elementals to the MCU.
