For many actors, joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a major step in their careers. The multi-billion franchise has definitely helped a number of actors achieve a level of celebrity that they just didn't have prior, though many were famous in at least some way beforehand. In this video, we're going to look at fifteen MCU actors and what they were doing before they joined the popular cinematic universe and how they landed their roles.
We're starting off with Scarlett Johansson, who plays super-spy Natasha Romanoff. However, before she landed the role, Emily Blunt had actually been cast as the character. A scheduling conflict ended up taking Blunt out of the running, resulting in Johansson landing the key role. Previously, Johansson had appeared in a number of beloved films, such as Ghost World. Getting into shape for the role wasn't easy for her, as she ended up kneeing her instructor in the face while climbing a rope.

As the MCU goes on, more and more actors will join its ranks. Phase Four is already set to see the introduction of Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, the entire cast of The Eternals film and many, many more. While a number of familiar faces are unlikely to be going anywhere soon, Marvel Studios is definitely going to need new blood and takes on heroes to keep going.
