Doctor Strange and Loki are two of the most powerful magic users in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although they apparently died in Avengers: Infinity War, they're set to return for Avengers: Endgame. A new theory suggests that the two might even be working together.

When the two met in Thor: Ragnarok, they were on less than great terms, as Strange didn't trust Loki being anywhere near Earth. However, the two may have been scheming for a long while to take out Thanos in Endgame. This theory speculates that Doctor Strange actually managed, through the Time Stone, to communicate with Loki about what he needed to do in order to create a future in which Thanos is defeated.

Although both characters seemed to perish in Infinity War, the future of Doctor Strange in the MCU is a lot more certain than that of Loki. There are currently plans for a sequel to 2016's Doctor Strange helmed by director Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. That movie may end up featuring Nightmare as its villain, though Mordo is sure to play a key role.

Loki, conversely, is set to feature in his own Disney+ series. Current rumors suggest that Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role, but that he'll only serve as a narrator talking about the adventures of a younger version of the God of Mischief.
