The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be a very different place following Avengers: Endgame, which might see the deaths of some of our most beloved heroes. Regardless, the lead-up to the movie has made it clear that, as old heroes and villains cycle die and retire, Marvel Studios is going to need to bring in a new characters to replace them. We think there are twenty lesser-known characters who absolutely deserve to join the cinematic universe in the future.
While some of the characters on this list are villains, others are heroes. We're hoping that characters such as Richard Rider/Nova will show up in the future, especially as the MCU focuses more on its cosmic movies. There's also a chance that a character such as Namor could show up in the future, especially following the success James Wan's Aquaman. The sometimes hero, sometimes villain has interacted with Wakanda and Black Panther in major ways in the past, so there's a chance he might just make his way to the big-screen when Black Panther 2 rolls around.

In 2018, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said he was expecting the rights to the Fantastic Four and X-Men back at some point in 2019, though he's been clear in the past that he doesn't have any set plans for the characters yet. According to Feige, the Disney/Fox deal will mean the return of "hundreds" of characters to which Marvel Studios previously did not have access, meaning that there are a lot of heroes and villains that could make their way to the MCU in the coming years. Some of these villains -- like Galactus and Doctor Doom -- might even serve as a worthy follow-up to Thanos in future team-up movies.
