Peter Parker/Spider-Man is one of the most popular comic book characters in the world. As a result of that, there have been several different film franchises focusing on the wall-crawler. However, the wildest Spider-Man film was one that never got made. In this video, we're going to go into a scrapped James Cameron Spider-Man film from the '90s that would have taken Peter to some pretty dark places and featured strange choices for some iconic villains.

In Cameron's film, Peter would have been a teenager bitten by a radioactive spider and develop superpowers, just like in the comics. However, Cameron wanted to do more with the concept, drawing a clearer connection to the bite and puberty. Peter would have struggled with puberty and superpowers, putting him in a vulnerable state as he tries to understand the various things he's undergoing. Cameron's movie would have been about more than just puberty, though. While there were a lot of different drafts, the main villain would have been Carlton Strand, a version of Electro.

As for the current iteration of Spider-Man, Tom Holland made his debut as the hero during 2016's Captain America: Civil War, working alongside his mentor, Tony Stark, to take down the rogue First Avenger. Since then, he's appeared in two solo movies, as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. While there was some disputes about the rights to the character, Spider-Man will receive a third solo movie in late 2021. At this time, little is known about the project, which was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
