VIDEO: A Heartbreaking Theory About MCU Spider-Man's Parents

CBR investigates a very strange theory about Peter Parker's missing parents in a new exclusive video.

Aunt May and Uncle Ben are two of the most important characters in Peter Parker's story, becoming his caretakers after the mysterious deaths of his parents, Richard and Mary Parker. Spider-Man: Homecoming didn't touch too much on the traumatic parts of the hero's backstory, but a lot of fans have been left wondering just what exactly happened to Peter's parents in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This theory comes from Peter's seeming fear of heights and his lack of experience with airplanes. Considering Peter's age, there's some overlap with one of the most tragic events in American history: the September 11 attacks. There's also some indication that the event actually occurred in the MCU, so it seems entirely possible that the character might have lost his parents in the attack.

It's unclear when, or if, the MCU will actually address Peter's parents. However, there's going to be a lot of speculation surrounding them until what exactly happened is confirmed. Check out the video below for more of our theory on what happened to Peter's parents in the MCU.

Although Tom Holland made his debut as Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, the actor confirmed last year that a younger version of Peter appeared in 2010's Iron Man 2. In that film, there's a little boy in an Iron Man mask who stares down one of the Hammer Drones at the Stark Expo. That character is a young Peter Parker, though rights issued surrounding the character meant he couldn't be named as such at the time.

Peter was seemingly turned to dust in the aftermath of Thanos' snap. However, the character is set to return in Spider-Man: Far From Home, so he won't stay dead for long. There's a chance that Peter's journey through Europe could help him find out what happened to his parents.
