Many villains have menaced Thor across the God of Thunder's 50+ year history in the Marvel Universe, but there's perhaps none more terrifying than Gorr the God Butcher. Created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic in 2013's Thor: God of Thunder #2, Gorr swore to dedicate his life towards ridding the universe of gods after he and his own family were abandoned by them at a moment of extreme need, with Thor becoming the God Butcher's most hated target.

However, while Gorr is a foe that has plagued Thor for millennia until his final days as King of Asgard in the Marvel Universe's far future, he is much more than an Asgardian threat alone. There are plenty of deities and demigods active across the universe in different divine pantheons, some of which -- including heroes like Hercules and Ares -- are prominent members of teams like the Avengers and Champions back on Earth. It is only a matter of time before Gorr would turn his attention to other familiar prey outside of the Norse pantheon, likely with bloody results.

Check out the video below for a complete history of Gorr the God Butcher, his recent activities in the comic books and how the mass murderer could poise a threat for the entire Marvel Universe.

Unrelenting in his rampage through the Marvel Universe, the impact of Gorr's genocidal vengeance against the gods has untold consequences for the realms and parishioners that each deity has been elected to serve and protect. And with their divine comrades in trouble, it is only a matter of time before the more mortal Marvel superheroes confront Gorr, with the God Butcher unlikely to show any mercy to opponents even if they aren't gods themselves. And with enough power to lay waste to entire pantheons, the odds appear to be in Gorr's favor.
