However, there are some video games that contain full musical numbers, wowing many fans with various characters showing off their musical chops. Conker's Bad Fur Day for N64 (later ported to Xbox) has a cult following in large part because of its edgy humor. One of its most well-known scenes involves the Great Mighty Poo introducing itself with his operatic song, "The Great Mighty Poo" for his boss battle. Many fans were unamused by the song's lyrics, but they were impressed by the dulcet, deep tones of the actual singing itself.

Some fans also argue that the song is purely enjoyable because of the operatic tone of the song alone, and would be less impressed if the song went in a different musical direction. The best part is that the song isn't only sang in a cutscene, but is also integrated into the boss fight itself and even plays into how the grotesque monster is defeated.

During this number, the plants cheerily warn the listener about the upcoming zombies and mention what they do to protect the lawn. Meanwhile, the zombies mention their various roles in invading the lawn. Unfortunately, this song is excluded from the free iOS and Android versions of the game, but is easy enough to find and enjoy elsewhere online.

Final Fantasy VI features an opera scene where Celes must impersonate an opera singer to impede on a kidnapping scheme. Celes must successfully memorize and sing the correct lyrics to pull this off, and the results of doing so were breathtaking for fans and showed off Celes as an amazing singer.

Some fans appreciated Celes having the chance to both sing and show a more vulnerable side to herself (even if it was supposed to be her in-character for her role in the opera). Regardless of whether Celes might actually feel the same emotions that she poured into her singing at the time or if she was playing her character, however, fans were impressed with the beautiful music she provided, especially at a time when songs with actual "singing" were almost unheard of within a video game.

Either way, the boss battle was a surprising part of the underappreciated game because of how unexpectedly musical and impressive it was overall.

Donkey Kong 64 featured a musical number called the "DK Rap," which was a rapping number that introduced Donkey Kong and the other characters in his group. Fans had a mixed reception to this number; some loved it, especially in later years when the theme was remixed for Super Smash Bros. Melee, while others failed to appreciate its goofy charm.

While nobody is going to be blasting "DK Rap" from their car stereo any time soon, it's still a fun and delightfully silly song that made the game more entertaining.

Fans loved the jazzy tunes and orchestration while playing as Mario making it up to the top floor where Pauline and her band performed. The level itself featured many throwbacks and reminders of past games in the franchise— particularly the original Donkey Kong where Pauline first debuted alongside Mario himself— which also delighted many players.
