Since releasing in 2011, Game of Thrones has been a massive draw for HBO. The show is one of the most popular on TV, and that's due in large part to its cast of compelling characters. While it's clear that the show's main characters, such as Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister and Cersei Lannister, will definitely play a role in determine the fate of Westeros, there are a number of minor characters who might end up being more important to the fictional world than before.

It seems likely that a character associated with the Lord of Light, such as Kinvara or Melisandre, could play a big role in the battle against the White Walkers. Check out the video below for more minor Game of Thrones characters who might just change everything when Season 8 rolls around.

Game of Thrones has always been a series filled with twists and turns, so it won't come as much of a surprise if these characters do end up making a big difference to the plot in the end. However, fans will just have to wait until the series returns later this year. This season will only consist six episodes, and HBO chief Richard Plepler remarked earlier this month that watching each of them was like watching a movie.

HBO is planning several spinoffs based on the show following its ending later this year. The cast for the first series, which is a prequel, was revealed earlier this month. The show, which series creator George R.R. Martin wants titled The Long Night, will be set thousands of years in the past.
