As Disney prepares to acquire key assets from 21st Century Fox that include such iconic Marvel characters as the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, fans are getting more and more excited to see how Marvel Studios handles its integration of some of Marvel Comics' most well-known and beloved heroes and villains. However, there's one big question that remains: Will the Fantastic Four or X-Men be introduced first?

Although it's hard to say for certain which of the two teams will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe first, there are a lot of reasons to think the Fantastic Four will be the first team to appear. One of the biggest reasons Marvel Studios might hold off on the X-Men is the continuing production on movies such as Dark Phoenix and New Mutants, as it's likely the studio will want to give the X-Men franchise some time to breathe before reintroducing them. However, that's certainly not the only reason.

In 2018, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said he was expecting the rights to the Fantastic Four and X-Men back at some point in 2019, though he's been clear in the past that he doesn't have any set plans for the characters yet. According to Feige, the Disney/Fox deal will mean the return of "hundreds" of characters to which Marvel Studios previously did not have access, meaning that there are a lot of heroes and villains that could make their way to the MCU in the coming years. Some of these villains -- like Galactus or Doctor Doom -- might even serve as a worthy follow-up to Thanos in future team-up movies.
