One of the most exciting announcements from this past Comic-Con International in San Diego was for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the sequel to the Sorcerer Supreme's premiere in 2016. Although the movie itself is still shrouded in mystery, we do already know some key details about the film.

Something we know for sure is that the Disney+ series WandaVision will end up leading into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) playing some role in that film. That series is also shrouded in mystery, but we know that it will feature Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Vision (Paul Bettany) in some capacity. Whether they'll also end up in Doctor Strange 2 remains to be seen, but it's certain whatever happens with them and Scarlet Witch will influence the sequel film in a major way.

As the release date for Doctor Strange 2 draws nearer, more details about the film and its tie-in series will be released, and it's likely that other films and Disney+ series will have some bearing, however minor, on the movie. It might also end up being one of the most important MCU films of the next phase in terms of how it sets up potential villains and plotlines for the future, with many speculating the title could hint at a way of bringing in the X-Men or Fantastic Four, which Disney and Marvel Studios are now able to use following the former's merger with Fox.
