The Dragon Ball franchise features some of the most powerful heroes and villains ever seen in anime/manga. While not all of the series' races are created equal, there are absolutely a few standout fighters among them who are stand at the absolute top of their respective groups. In this video, we're going to take you through the various races of the Dragon Ball franchise and explain just who the strongest members are and why.

We're opening with the Saiyans. While Goku is certainly among the strongest Saiyans in the Dragon Ball universe, he's certainly not the most powerful. That honor, instead, goes to Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan. While Broly was not canon for quite a long time, he finally appeared in the most recent Dragon Ball Super movie. In that film, Broly proves his strength as the Legendary Super Saiyan, proving he can even go toe-to-toe with some of the most powerful fusions and warriors in the universe. And there's a good chance Broly hasn't even reached his final form yet.

Dragon Ball Super was the most recent installment in the franchise, not counting the original net animation Super Dragon Ball Heroes. Although it's unclear just when -- or if -- the series will return, the Dragon Ball franchise is popular, so it's unlikely to stay gone for long. The manga currently expands on the ending of Dragon Ball Super, taking Goku and Vegeta into space to fight against the energy-absorbing Moro. However, it's unclear if when the anime returns it will actually pull from that plotline.
