The Dragon Ball franchise features some of the most powerful fighters in any genre, let alone just in anime. Ki/Energy/Chi/Fighting Power has been a big part of the series since Master Roshi unleashed his first Kamehameha. Without the concept, the show might be very different, but what exactly is Ki? In this new video, we're going to explain just what Ki is.

Ki is the energy within every living being that, when pulled out, can be used to use a variety of skills and techniques. Each person has a different amount of Ki, and how much they have can depend on how much they've trained and their species of alien. Only some learn to ever actually draw their Ki out. It's never been made clear when Ki was first discovered or who was the first to use it, but Ki attacks were first introduced in the eighth episode of Dragon Ball. From then on, they became a prominent part of the franchise.
