Considering the popularity of the Dragon Ball franchise, it shouldn't come as a surprise that there are a lot of fan theories out there, many of which have been debunked or are too off-the-wall to really give any credence to. However, there are some theories that have actually been confirmed by series creator Akira Toriyama himself, or at least someone involved with the production. We've compiled a list of fifteen such theories that ended up being true.

The canon of Dragon Ball is a bit nebulous, especially when looking at various filler episodes, films and even Dragon Ball GT. A lot of fans figured movies weren't canon and were instead just a way to explore the universe more using popular characters. This was eventually confirmed that the movies were never meant to be part of the main canon, and that they only existed in alternate timelines of the series, though this doesn't necessarily make things easier, as there are still elements of those films that sometimes seep into the main series.

There's also Goku's battle with Frieza and a major problem Dragon Ball fans have tried to figure out for years, namely the five minutes the villain gave planet Namek after he threw an energy attack into it. This ends up lasting for an hour of episode time. There are two main solutions fans look to for this, the first is that they're talking about Namekian time, which is different. The second is that the fighting is actually taking place in slo-mo. Although this part hasn't been officially confirmed, other parts of the franchise actually signal this is indeed the case.

Although Dragon Ball: Super has already finished its run in Japan, dub-watching fans are still in the process of seeing what the popular franchise still holds. Super Dragon Ball Heroes is helping tide fans over in the short-term, but it's unknown at this time just when the series will return with new episodes.
