Considering the impending acquisition of key assets from 21st Century Fox by Disney, Marvel Studios is poised to regain the rights to some of its most iconic characters, including Deadpool. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will get a lot bigger as it starts incorporating these heroes, but it's also got some explaining to do when it comes to bringing those characters into the fold.

Deadpool is a character with a lot of potential when it comes to merging the two universes. Considering his tendency for breaking the fourth wall, it seems like a certainty he'll address his change of universe in some way. However, how exactly the MCU will end up incorporating Deadpool remains to be seen. The Merc With a Mouth has become immensely popular for his R-rated films, and there haven't been any movies rated so maturely in the MCU. Still, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has said that making an R-rated MCU film is not out of the question, which Disney CEO Bob Iger has also affirmed, saying future Deadpool movies will likely be R-rated.

How exactly Deadpool will interact with his fellow Marvel heroes when Disney regains the rights to him is unknown, especially if he's appearing in R-rated films. However, there's a lot Marvel Studios could do to introduce the character. Check out the video below for our theories on how Deadpool could join the MCU.

Despite Marvel Studios regaining the rights to its characters, it's probably going to be a while before any X-Men or members of the Fantastic Four make their way to the MCU. As the studio plans its movies out several years in advance, it's likely that there's nothing currently in the works, though Marvel expects to have the characters in the next six months. Whether Reynolds will continue in the role after the merger remains to be seen, but it's likely that the rest of the X-Men will be recast.
