As Warner Bros. continues to develop its strategy for proceeding with the DC Extended Universe, the shared cinematic universe has certainly left plenty of loose ends and familiar faces to explore as a new wave of DCEU films prepare to hit the big screen -- the first films set within the DCEU since 2018! Among the plot threads poised to make their return are a surprising number of villains introduced across the DCEU's first six films who lived to fight another day by the end credits.
From villains who were intentionally spared from lethal justice at the hands of the DCEU's various superheroes to antagonists who were teased with hints at greater roles to come in the future, DCEU villains have a surprisingly high survival rate -- especially in comparison with their counterparts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, there are no less than ten DCEU villains who could each potentially return in future films to plague the superheroes once again with new fiendish plots and designs of revenge.

From Zack Snyder and the studio's discarded plans for a sequel to Justice League to deliberate hints at surviving villains seen in mid and post-credit scenes, the DCEU has more than its fair share of surviving villains continuing to lurk in the shadows waiting for their next chance to strike. And with two separate DCEU films arriving next year with Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and Wonder Woman 1984, it may be only a matter of time before several sinister familiar faces resurface. And given their prior history with the DCEU heroes, these surviving villains are sure to be more dangerous than ever before.
