The Castlevania franchise is best known for the ongoing struggle between the Belmont family and Dracula. For centuries, generations of Belmonts have fought the forces of darkness with varying degrees of success. However, with each generation, there is always something new to learn about the family. While there are many well-known family members like Trevor, Simon and Richter, others that don't get as much of the spotlight also offer something that makes them equally as important.

For example, Leon Belmont brought the family their enchanted whip that can kill any creature, thanks to its power. He is also the first member to battle the likes of Dracula. However, in another reality, players are introduced to Victor Belmont in the game Castlevania: Lord of Shadows 2. Not only is he the last member of the family lineage, but he's also the most important.

The Lord of Shadows trilogy takes place in a reality that tells a different version of Dracula's origin and ties his story to the Belmonts through blood. Players take control of Gabriel Belmont, aka Dracula, through both games, with the original serving as his origin and the sequel seeing him in the not-so-distant future of 2057. After lifetimes of defeating Belmonts, Dracula awakens in this new time and discovers through an old associate that he will have to prevent the arrival of Satan by killing his acolytes. While on his quest, he is reunited with the Brotherhood of Light and meets their new leader, Victor Belmont.

Victor is the last of his bloodline and isn't afraid of death. While he is only briefly seen in Lord of Shadows 2, his actions help explain the type of person he is. He is first introduced as a hooded man and prepared to kill Dracula even if it means he could die as well. However, after a harrowing fight, the two agree to join forces to stop the arrival of Satan. Sadly, this journey doesn't end well for Victor, who sacrifices himself in the process to call down an acolyte. Victor expresses that Dracula is now the final Belmont before revealing he carried the Mirror of Fate, which guides people to their destiny.

Victor Belmont's story may feel brief when compared to his earlier relatives, but because there is so much still unknown, it makes him the most interesting. It's clear he's lived a hard life, as evidenced by his scars. However, he hasn't lost his faith in the Brotherhood or fighting for what's right. There are potentially even more stories that could be told of his many battles that will help flesh out why this Belmont is so intriguing.

There is also a degree of sadness with Victor as he is not only the last Belmont in his family lineage; he's also, so far as the release timeline is considered, the last new Belmont fans have seen. However, the realization gives Victor a degree of importance as he holds the whip until another Belmont comes to take his place. Victor is easily one of the most enigmatic Belmonts in the Castlevania franchise. But behind his mystery lies a character with a lot of untapped potential and resolve that makes him the most interesting Belmont.
