Vice President Biden to Appear On NBC's Parks & Recreation

Ben Wyatt has the best engagement present ever planned for his new fiancé Leslie Knope. As fans of Parks & Recreation will know, Amy Poehler's character has a soft spot for Vice President Joe Biden. That's why Adam Scott's Ben decided to arrange a little meet-and-greet between the two of them in the Nov. 15 episode of NBC's hit comedy.

The reason why we're only now hearing about this is because the network wasn't allowed to announce the cameo until after the election. But now Entertainment Weekly is offering up a sneak peek at the upcoming episode. Spoiler alert: It's adorable.

“Given that Eleanor Roosevelt and Bella Abzug are no longer with us, this is probably No. 1," Executive Producer Michael Schur told EW about the decision to ask Biden to cameo. "[Leslie] has a lot of female heroes that cross party lines. She has a lot of social figures that she considers heroes, but the funniest hero is Joe Biden. There’s an episode last season where she says, ‘Joe Biden is on my celebrity sex list -- well, he is my celebrity sex list’ ... She’s meeting the man that she’s in love with on some deep level. It was a bigger deal to us in some ways that she meet Joe Biden than it was that she meet Barack Obama.”

Apparently it was surprisingly easy to get Biden on board: He and Obama have admitted to being fans of the show, so all it took was getting a couple minutes of the VP's time to make this cameo happen.

"He was very nice and charming,” Schur said. "He was clearly a big fan of Amy. It was the day the Emmy nominations came out and when he walked through the door he congratulated her on her Emmy nomination. ... He said some very nice things about the show and talked about how the pro-public service message was meaningful.”
