It sounds like a high concept pitch gone horribly wrong: What do you get if you cross The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Sopranos? New VH1 reality show Mob Wives, apparently.
The MTV channel continues its quest for the tackiest reality show imaginable with this new series that follows four women who have to carry on with their lives after their husbands have been convicted of organized crime-related activities. The series, a collaboration between the Weinstein Company and former ABC boss Ben Silverstein's new company Electus, has been picked up for a ten episode debut season, and is expected to begin production immediately after Thanksgiving. Expect lots of shouting, lots of cliches and just a little bit of heartwarming narrative to keep everyone tuning in week after week, when the series begins next March.
