New Line Cinema's live-action adaptation of The Kitchen has received a new release date.

The 1970s period piece, based on the Vertigo comic book series, has been moved up six weeks and will hit theaters on August 9 instead of its original release date of September 20, Deadline reports.

While the plot sounds suspiciously like the 2018 critically acclaimed movie Widows, the story of The Kitchen dates back to 2015.

The original Vertigo Comics eight-issue miniseries, by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle, places the wives of Irish mobsters into the heat of the battle when the three women -- Raven, Kathy and Angie -- take control of the business after their husbands are sent to prison. However, when their husbands are released, the women decide they are not willing to give up their newfound power and control.

The Kitchen stars Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) as three 1978 Hell’s Kitchen housewives whose mobster husbands are sent to prison by the FBI. Left with little but a sharp ax to grind, the ladies take the Irish mafia’s matters into their own hands -- proving unexpectedly adept at everything from running the rackets to taking out the competition… literally.
