Vertigo Comics, later rebranded as DC Vertigo, was first established in 1993. The imprint has long served as a home for more adult-oriented comics published under the DC banner, many of which were distanced if not outright divorced from the publisher's main universe. Some of the most influential titles to be published by Vertigo over the years include V for Vendetta, The Sandman, Preacher, Saga of the Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, Y: The Last Man, Transmetropolitan and iZombie, among countless others.

Back in June 2019, DC Comics announced that it would be retiring most of its imprints -- including Vertigo -- in January 2020. Going forward, the bulk of the publisher's content will now fall under one of three banners: DC, DC Kids or DC Black Label. Now that January is here, it seems Vertigo Comics is about to turn off the lights, signalling its last days with this new post to social media and deferring all future questions to DC's main account.
