WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for Veronica Mars Season 4, streaming now on Hulu.

Season 4 of Veronica Mars saw the shocking death of long-time character Logan Echolls, who was killed when a bomb left in a backpack by antagonist Penn Epner went off. A new petition is asking for the production to bring Logan back.

Posted on Change.org, the petition has garnered over 2,500 signatures in its first week. The poster writes,"While we respect the right of a writer and creator to do with a character what they like, and we know a lot of thought and rationalising would have gone into the decision, we beg you to reconsider."

The rest of the petition goes on to talk about how "by taking away Veronica’s soulmate, her happiness, you send the message that a woman can’t have it all," claiming there's still more story to tell when it comes to the titular detective and Logan.

Hulu announced its revival of the classic show last August, with the streaming service revealing it would bring back the fan-favorite sleuth for an eight-episode fourth season. The series revival takes place following the events of 2014's film, which fans helped to fund via Kickstarter, and sees Veronica return to her hometown: Neptune, California.

Fan petitions following controversial choices have become more common in recent years, with a good example being the petition to remake Season 8 of HBO's Game of Thrones, which earned over one million signatures. There's no indication these petitions are at all effective, and are in many cases just fans blowing off steam about choices with which they disagree.

Veronica Mars is created by Rob Thomas and stars Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra, Ryan Hansen, Max Greenfield, Ken Marino, Daran Norris, David Starzyk, Adam Rose and Ryan Devlin. Season 4 is streaming on Hulu now in its entirety.
