Doc Hammer has revealed that a fan-favorite character from The Venture Bros. will make an appearance in the upcoming film.

The co-creator and voice actor for Adult Swim's long-running parody series shared a post on Instagram of himself in a recording booth, working on the movie. "SPOILER ALERT: I'm recording Shoreleave!" the caption reads. "So, simple deduction leads the sagacious minded to the conclusion: 'I guess Shoreleave is in the Venture special. Joy!'"

Shoreleave debuted in the show's third season as a former member of the Office of Secret Intelligence, Venture's answer to groups like S.H.I.E.L.D. or G.I. Joe by way of The Village People. An efficient spy and a deadly soldier, Shoreleave was fired from the O.S.I. for violating Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and went on to become an agent of the renegade villain-hunting organization S.P.H.I.N.X. After the leader of S.P.H.I.N.X., Colonel Hunter Gathers, was reinstated to the O.S.I. and promoted to its leader, S.P.H.I.N.X. itself was disbanded and Shoreleave and his fellow blacklisted agents were allowed to rejoin the good guys in an official capacity.

The Venture Bros. debuted on Adult Swim in 2004 and ran for seven seasons across 17 years before it was canceled. However, Hammer and his co-creator Christopher McCulloch (sometimes credited as Jackson Publick) were given the opportunity to wrap up Venture Bros. with a feature film. Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen said at the time, "Leveraging the power of WarnerMedia allows us to deliver original content to our amazingly dedicated and not-shy fans, while also giving our talented series creators an opportunity to tell stories in new and interesting ways."

The line about the "mysterious woman" from the Ventures' past is of particular note. Longtime fans of the show are well aware that the identity of Hank and Dean Venture's mother is a mystery that's been teased since the show's beginning, and the film may finally offer concrete answers to the question.

The Venture Bros. movie will be available exclusively on Blu-ray/DVD and digital platforms for 90 days upon release and streaming on HBO Max and Adult Swim after that.
