Venom writer and Miracleman fan Donny Cates made an offer to help cash-strapped artists during the shutdowns caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

"If you're an artist and need some ends right now, I collect commissions of MIRACLEMAN if you had time and wanted to do one. I'd pay you for it. Just saying," he wrote on Twitter.

Shortly after, fan and product reviewer Venomized Ryan made a similar offer on Twitter, saying, "Saw what Donny Cates was doing supporting the comic community by commissioning artists for his Mr. Miracle art collection & I'd like to do the same for my Venom art collection. If you're an interested artist, please let me know."

Both offers prompted several fan artists to contact Cates and Ryan with samples of their work. The coronavirus pandemic has led to the postponement or cancellation of multiple comics and sci-fi/fantasy conventions, where many artists meet fans, sell sketches and get commissions for various works.

Cates has written several titles for Marvel, including Venom, Absolute Carnage, Thor, Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider and Guardians of the Galaxy. He also is an unabashed Miracleman fan, once tweeting "MIRACLEMAN is hands down my favorite comic book to ever exist."
