In just over a month, Sony will finally launch its own Marvel universe of films based around characters related to Spider-Man with the Tom Hardy-starring Venom. While the movie's marketing took its time to create anticipation and demand to see the symbiote in action, the last full-length trailer of the film showed us the alien parasite in all his grinning glory. Even more than that, we caught a first glimpse of the movie's villain, Riz Ahmed's Carlton Drake, wearing a symbiote of his own as the murderous Riot.

Now, as the release of the film rapidly approaches, we have the first television spot of the film. While it doesn't offer much in the way of new footage, it does still show us a bit more of Carlton Drake. When Eddie Brock leaves the Life Foundation in possession of the symbiote, Drake can be heard ordering his goons to bring back his creature.

"You should be extremely afraid," Drake can also be heard saying, likely warning Eddie of the dangers that come with bonding with a symbiote. From the previous trailers of the film, we have gathered that Drake is at the head of a scientific corporation named the Life Foundation. There, Drake and his team of scientists are looking to unlock the evolution of mankind thanks to a symbiotic bond with an alien parasite that has, somehow, been recovered from a crash site. While we don't know how it will happen yet, Drake will also come into possession of a symbiote of his own and transform into Riot, who will take the fight straight to Brock's Venom.

Sony is putting a lot of hope on Venom, seeing as how the future of its own superhero universe depends on the movie's success. The studio is also actively developing a Morbius the Living Vampire movie starring Jared Leto, a solo Kraven the Hunter film as well as a Black Cat movie.

On top of that, it was recently revealed that Hardy has signed on to play Venom in three movies. There's no word yet on whether or not Riz Ahmed has a similar contract, or if his appearance in the superhero universe is confined to Venom only. We'll know more when we witness the final fate of Riot once the film is released.
