Marvel's Venom is about to have an epic team-up with the God of Thunder.

Marvel announced that the King of Asgard and the King in Black will join forces in an upcoming Thor arc. The two-part saga begins in Thor #27, which comes from Donny Cates, Salvador Larroca and Nic Klein. “We’re so thrilled to have the legendary Salvador Larroca join us as a guest artist for this story!” editor Wil Moss said of the announcement. “Donny thought he’d told all the Venom stories he had to tell, but the amazing world-building that Ram V, Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch have been doing in their brilliant Venom series gave Donny an idea for a story that brings the world of Thor and the world of Venom together in a really fresh, exciting way.”

Marvel Teams Venom and Thor to Battle a Deadly New Foe

Cates and artist Ryan Stegman's Venom run began in 2018 and lasted for 35 issues. The series introduced Knull, a god-like entity that created the alien symbiotes Eddie Brock and others bonded with. It also tied into 2019's Absolute Carnage, which Cates also wrote. "It's something that we've been building to, and building to, and building to," Cates previously said of the conclusion to his and Stegman's Venom run. "Now we're here. Ryan and I talk about that a lot. About how Ryan will send in a new page for King in Black, and it's finally like a drawing of something that we've all been thinking about, a particular moment or a scene that we've all been thinking about for almost four years now. So it's pretty surreal. It's crazy. It really is a testament to how awesome the Marvel fanbase has been and the Venom fans in general, that they've supported the book so much. That this crazy idea of this Knull thing has stuck around so long, that we're actually getting to do this."

Cates and Klein began a new Thor run for Marvel. Having recently concluded the "God of Hammers" saga, Marvel previously announced that Thor #24, which marks the 750th issue of Thor, will be a 74-page epic celebrating the God of Thunder's rich history in comics. Following that, the Asgardian King will face his former Avengers teammate, the Hulk, in battle during Marvel's "Banner of War" event.

Thor #27 comes from Cates and Larroca, with cover art by Klein. The issue goes on sale July 27. Klein will return as Thor's regular series artist in Thor #29 following the two-art Venom team-up event.
