WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Venom #5 by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale Wednesday, August 22.

Everything is changing for the symbiote known as Venom. In the new ongoing series by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman, Eddie Brock has learned the secret history of his alien counterpart. Everything you thought you knew about Venom is wrong, so it makes sense that in Venom #5, the alien symbiote would show off an all-new power.

So far the series has delved into the hidden mythology behind the Klyntar, revealing the entire race was a creation of the entity known as Knull. The symbiote god has now come to Earth looking to reclaim his dominance over the alien race he originally conceived as a weapon of conquest. Despite help from Miles Morales aka Spider-Man, Venom proved to be no match for his maker.

The latest issue opens following their daring escape from Knull's symbiote dragon, as Miles and Eddie fall from the sky. Unable to figure out how exactly to get out of this tricky situation, the symbiote reveals a new ability to fly. Venom grows wings and seemingly brings everyone to safety, but the real question is how exactly is this even possible?

Perhaps Venom simply learned a new trick, or maybe he figured out how to do it by watching his creator. The series has done a good job changing your perception of the titular anti-hero, so you can be sure an explanation is coming. Let's just hope this new power can go a long way toward defeating Knull.

The answers are coming August 22, when Venom #5 hits the stands. Can a flying Venom change the tide of battle, or are they just delaying their inevitable defeat?
