WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Venom #31, by Donny Cates, Iban Coello, Jesus Aburtov and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

After years of teases, the crossover event King in Black is finally here as Knull, the dark god of symbiotes, arrives on Earth to reshape the world to his insidious will. As Eddie Brock leads a desperate defense against the coming evil, it's all hands on deck for the superheroes, including the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. With his own extensive history with symbiotes, Spidey is poised to play a prominent role in the crossover and has already lent valuable support to Eddie in protecting his son Dylan from Knull's grasp. But as the heroes rally in the face of the initial attack, Spider-Man is outed as being somewhat unreliable with one particular Avengers' secret: A communication link directly to Iron Man.

Realizing that Dylan is a major target for Knull due to his ability to control and destroy symbiotes at will, Eddie placed his son in the safety of the underground bunker Ezekiel used to hide Silk from Morlun. Deep below the streets of New York City, the bunker appears successful in masking Dylan's connection to the symbiotes on the surface as Knull is unable to find the boy as he lands on Earth. However, as the heroes are systematically overwhelmed by Knull's symbiote army, Dylan grows increasingly panicked and decides to contact the heroes outside to discover how his father is faring after Eddie warned the boy not to communicate through his innate connection to the symbiotes to avoid detection.

Dylan Brock King in Black

Dylan uses a radio inside of the bunker to contact the outside world, contacting Iron Man who is in the midst of battling to stay alive in the face of the symbiote onslaught. After realizing the identity of the kid contacting him over a private Avengers radio channel, Tony Stark quickly surmises that the one most likely to have leaked such sensitive information to a non-vetted source would be Spider-Man, quietly cursing his name. The impromptu radio call ultimately leaves Dylan in the dark as Iron Man is forced to hang up and focus on the harrowing attack as Knull easily lays waste to Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

The incident is the second time recently that Tony's private contact info has been shared without his consent. After writing a message on Thor's hammer Mjolnir when the God of Thunder hurled to Earth all the way from Asgard to assist the Avengers, Thor repaid the favor with a prank of his own. To test a theory about his mythical hammer losing its enchantment, Thor flung the hammer to Broxton, Oklahoma with Tony's personal cell phone number engraved into Mjolnir. Discovered by a local and the media, Tony was understandably angry at his longtime teammate for sharing his number with the general public.

Ever one with a visible soft spot, especially for boys worrying over their father figures, Spider-Man cannot resist sharing Tony's private information to Dylan in case he ever needed a situation report from the surface without risking exposing his location to the rampaging dark god. Spidey is also one of the few heroes to evade Knull's clutches as he engulfs most of New York City in his symbiotes, potentially leading to a reunion between the web-slinger and the boy as they desperately search for a way to turn the tide against the unrelenting assault.
