As writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman's Marvel Universe-spanning event, King in Black, draws nearer to its first-issue debut, Venom editor Devin Lewis spoke about how Eddie Brock will be affected by the massive crossover story.

While discussing the anticipated series with Games Radar, Lewis teased some profound changes on Venom's horizon. "Donny and Ryan have some crazy plans for Venom in the future. But you've seen in their run already that they're not afraid to pull any punches," he explained. "What Venom is after King in Black - the symbiote, Eddie, or both, well… Let's just say King in Black redefines that."

With just about every element of Cates and Stegman's Venom run thus far said to have paved the way for King in Black, exactly how the established plotlines and characters from that title will fit into the upcoming grand-scale symbiote invasion remains to be seen. However, Cates has confirmed that Dylan Brock, Eddie's son who has the power to communicate with and control symbiotes, will play a pivotal roll.

King in Black will see the God of the Symbiotes, Knull, and his overwhelming forces invading Earth, with every established Marvel hero being affected. The recently released Web of Venom: Empyre's End #1 has already started setting the stage for Knull's horrifying conquest.

Written by Donny Cates and illustrated by Ryan Stegman, King in Black #1 goes on sale Dec. 2 from Marvel Comics.
