To coincide with the release of Sony's Venom film on October 5, Marvel will be releasing a one-shot, custom edition tie-in comic that will help introduce audiences to this new version of Eddie Brock and the world he inhabits.

As reported by IGN, the comic, simply titled Venom, will be released digitially on Marvel.com on Friday, September 14 at 11 a.m. ET. Additionally, fans looking to get their hands on a physical copy of the book will only be able to do so if they have purchased their tickets for the film's opening weekend from AMC Theaters.

This comic, which will serve as an official prequel/teaser for the upcoming film, is written by Sean Ryan (Nova, Prowler), illustrated by Szymon Kudranski (Doctor Strange: Damnation, Spawn), colored by Ian Herring (Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage: Mdo Digital Comic) and lettered by Joe Sabino (Black Panther: Soul of a Machine.) Moreover, the cover for Venom has been provided by artist SKAN.

In the past, Marvel has released plenty of tie-in comics for its films and TV shows from within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will continue this trend with the upcoming Captain Marvel. However, this new Venom book will be the first "movie prelude"-style comic the company has released for one of its Sony-helmed films.
