New video from the Atlanta set of Venom reveals Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock having a difficult time with what we can safely assume is the alien symbiote from Sony upcoming Spider-Man spinoff.
Although he isn't wearing any motion-capture sensors, it's pretty clear the scene entails Hardy struggling to prevent the symbiote from bonding with his body. The footage also shows Hardy comically reassuring passers-by that nothing is out of the ordinary, which is the first real hint that humor might factor into the R-rated film.
Reportedly based at least in part on Marvel Comics' Lethal Protector arc, Venom has been in production since October. In that storyline, Eddie Brock transforms into a vigilante antihero while on his way to the West Coast. A potential logo also recently leaked, as well.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom. Jenny Slate, Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed will also star in the film, though their current roles are unknown. The Sony Pictures film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Oct. 5, 2018.
