Sony Pictures' sequel to its Tom Hardy-starring hit Venom pushed its release date again.

Venom 2 producer Dan Wilson stated in May 2020 that the film's crew wanted to wait to resume filming until everyone felt safe doing so, referring to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic halting initial filming plans. Wilson shared, "We're building a plan that puts as much protection around them as we possibly can." The producer added, "In the plans that we've discussed, they've certainly taken that into account and we'll see when we get there."

While plot details remain scarce for Venom's sequel, the upcoming film will see Tom Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock/Venom. Michelle Williams has also confirmed that she'll be returning as Anne Weying. Additionally, Reid Scott is set to return as Anne's new boyfriend, Dr. Dan Lewis. Last, but certainly not least -- as its title suggests -- Woody Harrelson will star as Cletus Kasady and his homicidal symbiotic alter ego, Carnage.
