While Venom may be at the forefront of the current Marvel Comics crossover event Absolute Carnage, this December he'll be involved in a mysterious new story titled "Venom Island," with the rest of the Marvel Universe coming along with him.
Ahead of the release of its December 2019 advance solicitation information, Marvel has released a wave of variant covers showing various superheroes throughout the Marvel Universe battling especially monstrous incarnations of the Venom symbiote tied to the upcoming storyline, on sale this December.
The Venom Island variant cover for X-Men #3 is illustrated by Mike McKone showing Cable, Havok and Wolverine battling arachnid forms of the symbiote. The variant cover for Excalibur #3 is illustrated by Koi Pham and has Apocalypse teaming up with Jubilee and the new Captain Britain Betsy Braddock while the variant cover for Issue #4, illustrated by Kael Ngu, has Gambit and Rogue facing off against serpentine Venom symbiotes. The variant cover for Fantastic Four #17, illustrated by Carlos Gomez, has the eponymous quartet fighting symbiote gorillas. Finally, the variant cover for Captain Marvel #13 is illustrated by Joshua Cassara and has Carol Danvers take on a group of symbiote monkeys.
Additionally, Marvel has revealed that there will be more tie-in variants to be unveiled at a later date, including one for Amazing Spider-Man #36 illustrated by Declan Shalvey, Black Cat #7 by Otto Schmidt, Miles Morales: Spider-Man #13 by Edward Petrovich and Valkyrie: Jane Foster #6 by Anna Rud.
Details on Venom Island are still under wraps but it is expected to begin this December in the pages of Venom #21 by Donny Cates and Mark Bagley following the conclusion of Absolute Carnage this November.
