Eddie Brock, aka Venom, has been a Marvel Comics mainstay for 33 years at this point and has a fair few adventures under his symbiotic belt. Many of those storylines have involved Venom taking on new forms, being granted massive power upgrades, or the character changing altogether for an extended period of time.

Most of these versions of Venom would be a treat for fans to see in the world of video games. These alternative takes could appear as NPC's, boss battles or, more preferably, alternate costumes for the wicked web-slinger within his own game. There are plenty of variations of Venom out there, but some are perfect for a video game adaptation.

Anti-Venom

Anti-Venom holds the distinction of being the only version of Venom on this list to already make his video game debut. Anti-Venom was born during a time when Eddie Brock was no longer Venom, the result of the supervillain Mister Negative's influence on the remnants of the Venom symbiote remaining in Brock's blood. Anti-Venom is an artificial symbiote and is more powerful than all other natural symbiotes. His touch can cure disease, cleanse the blood, and is highly caustic to symbiotes.

Anti-Venom originally appeared as a boss in 2011's Spider-Man: Edge of Time and has since become a video game mainstay as an alternate costume for Venom, most recently appearing in 2017's Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and 2019's Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. This tradition should continue, as the character never received his due in the comics, Eddie sacrificed the Anti-Venom suit to cure New York in the Spider-Island event not long after he took on the mantle.

Movie Venom

Venom Movie feature image - Attack

The 2018 Venom film has the symbiote already existing as an established character with a sense of self, named Venom, differing from the source material in which the Venom moniker is only born when Eddie and the symbiote come together. This design notably removes the iconic spider logo from the design, replacing it with white veins all over the body. Hardy's Venom doesn't swing from webs, instead leaping great heights across buildings.

Movie Venom makes the list for a simple reason, superhero games (In particular Spider-Man ones) have a history of including various movie costumes as alternates for their playable characters, and Venom should join this tradition. The opportunity for cross-promotion is also ripe, making this choice a no-brainer.

Madness Venom

This version of the character stems from the 1993 storyline Venom: The Madness. After a severe beating from the Juggernaut, Venom is infected with a sentient virus known as the Mercury Virus, which drives the web-slinger even more insane than he already was. The virus augmented his shapeshifting abilities and caused him to sprout extra heads and arms, giving him eight spider-like appendages. The power he gained allowed him to fight on a level playing field with the Juggernaut.

Madness Venom has become rather iconic over the years and is a symbol of the atmosphere and mood of 90s comics. In-game, this version of Venom would be far more powerful but also unruly, the player possibly unable to fully control Eddie with any real precision. The extra limbs could allow for faster traversal of walls and building, as well as multiple hits on all attacks.

Dreamstone Venom

During War of the Realms, Malekith the Accursed invaded Earth and the streets were flooded with frost giants and war witches. Eddie was no longer bonded to his symbiote and utilized a relic known as a Dreamstone to change into a new Venom-inspired form to protect his son Dylan. The new suit was incredibly powerful, becoming more so as it fed off Eddie's negative emotions, it was also capable of manipulating the weather as Eddie summoned lightning while channeling Thor.

Dreamstone Venom has a striking design that would look stunning in motion. Its magic-based powerset would also lend itself to some interesting variety in Venom's playstyle. Summoning lightning and battleaxes would allow Eddie to play a little more like Thor as a change of pace.

Captain Universe Venom

Venom Enigma Force Captain Universe

After Eddie's death in King In Black, he is resurrected by the enigma force in order to battle against the dark god Knull, creator of the symbiotes. As a new Captain Universe, Eddie was able to wield Mjolnir and combine it with the Silver Surfer's board to create a giant battleax. This form was so powerful that Eddie was able to finally defeat Knull by thrusting him into the surface of the sun. Venom has never been stronger than this.

Captain Universe Venom is the latest form taken by Eddie and should be vastly overpowered in a video game appearance. This form is capable of decapitating a Celestial, so street thugs or Hydra agents should fall easily to Venom. If this form did make it into a video game starring Eddie, it should be as a final unlock, allowing the player to trivialize the game's difficulty as a reward for full completion.
