In its four weeks of release in China, Sony's Venom has seen a staggering amount of box office success in the country and it doesn't appear to ending anytime soon.
The Chinese government has granted the antihero film a rare extension on its theatrical release, will put it in direct competition with Aquaman which opens in theaters in the country on Friday.
In China alone, the film has earned $263.6 million across its four weeks in theaters, holding the top spot for its first two weeks out in Chinese cinemas. It remains behind only Avengers: Infinity War as the highest earning Hollywood film in the country this year.
With $846.9 million earned at the combined worldwide box office as of yesterday and counting, Venom may very well top 2007's Spider-Man 3 to outperform any Spider-Man film as it continues it surprise global dominance at the box office.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom Stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, Sope Aluko, Scott Deckert, Marcella Bragio, and Michelle Lee. The film will arrive on digital HD on December 11, with a Blu-ray release on December 18.
