When ESPN's Randy Moss and Charles Woodson set out to find a scary new sports mascot, a new commercial indicates that the villainous Venom is more than they bargained for. Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped the new promo for Venom, the upcoming Marvel feature, with a sporty twist intact.

In the ad, NFL sportscasters Woodson and Moss are pitching the idea of getting a mascot that "truly represents what this fanbase is all about." While the other mascots in the room scoff upon the arrival of a fully human Tom Hardy, saying he "looks like he drives a minivan," Hardy's transformation into the frightening symbiote sends everyone running for their lives.

This isn't the first time Marvel and sports entertainment have crossed paths. In 2013 Marvel partnered with ESPN to produce a series of comic covers, from Iron Man to Iron Fist, that reimagined the heroes as American college football mascots.
