We're still four months away from Marvel's resident symbiote-bonded antihero Venom swinging onto the big screen in his first solo outing. However, to help hold fans over, there's a brand new look at the man behind the mask, Eddie Brock.
The image, which appears in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, features Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock in his street clothes and mounted on the back of the motorcycle we saw him riding in the first full-length trailer. Much like the trailer itself, it appears Sony is keeping images of a fully formed Venom to a minimum to help preserve some sense of mystery.
Of course, this won't be Venom/Eddie Brock's first foray into the world of superhero blockbusters. The character originally made his big-screen debut in the critically panned Spider-Man 3 in 2007, played by Topher Grace. Director Sam Raimi is on the record saying that the addition of Venom was not his decision but rather Sony's. Nevertheless, the overstuffed nature of the project and subsequent poor fan reception led to the studio rebooting the Spider-Man franchise altogether in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man.
Arriving in theaters Oct. 5, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze and Reed Scott.
