WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Venom #25 by Donny Cates, Mark Bagley, Andy Owens, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin and Clayton Cowles, available now.

Following the events of Absolute Carnage, Eddie Brock was offered an official invitation to join the ranks of the Avengers in Venom #21. However, this was just the start of the "Venom Island" storyline and -- before Eddie could give an answer -- he rushed off to a remote island to deal with the remnant of Carnage that was still trapped inside him and get rid of it once and for all.

Ever since this volume of Venom began, Eddie Brock has been trying his best to act more like a hero than a monster, and this quest reaches a definite point in Venom #25. The issue brings the "Venom Island" story to a conclusion by having Eddie finally get rid of the Carnage symbiote. But for the first time in a very long time, Eddie does something unexpected: he responds to the Avengers membership offer by telling them the truth -- the whole truth -- about what's been happening to him and the symbiotes. Although Brock doesn't officially respond to the Avengers' membership offer, it seems like Venom will be spending a lot of time alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the foreseeable future.

Venom Eddie Brock Avengers

Venom #25 is framed almost entirely as a conversation between Eddie Brock and the Avengers. He reveals to them exactly what he has been through ever since the start of Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's run on the title. He tells them all about Knull, the Grendel, the Maker, his time without the symbiote, his son Dylan, his brief time as an Asgardian warrior during the War of the Realms all the way up to Cletus Kasady's return in Absolute Carnage and how he successfully dealt with the villainous symbiote on his remote island.

He does all of this in the interest of coming clean and proving that he has changed. Eddie isn't keeping secrets anymore, especially not from Earth's Mightiest Heroes. That's why, in the interest of protection, he tells them that Knull is awake and that he's coming for Earth. A massive, dark invasion is coming for them, and they need to be ready. Eddie's honesty and earnestness gets the attention of Captain America, Thor, Captain Marvel and the rest of the team, who already gave him a meaningful vote of confidence.

The Avengers believe Venom, and they know they can trust him, especially when Thor recoils at the mere mention of Knull. Eddie's speech ends on a hopeful note that closes the main story of Venom #25: that only by acting together will they be able to defeat Knull.

While there's no official indoctrination or any sort of welcome party, it looks like Venom has become a member of the Avengers, especially in light of Eddie's speech and the events of the book. After all, the "Venom Island" storyline began with Earth's Mightiest Heroes extending an invitation to Eddie to join their ranks. And while he doesn't say yes directly, the entire issue reads like his own acceptance speech.

By coming clean about everything he's been through -- both good and bad -- Eddie shows he can be trustworthy, and he demonstrates that he really is doing things differently now. For the time being, it's still not clear if Venom will call Avengers Mountain home or will join the cast of the Avengers comic series, but he absolutely has the team's trust. And with Knull coming for Earth, it almost certainly won't be long before Eddie teams up with Earth's Mightiest Heroes for the fight of their lives.
