The first issue of Donny Cates' Venom run contains a secret Easter egg, and Cates has rebuffed fan attempts to figure it out.One fan suggested that markings on one of the pages resemble the Grendel, the symbiote dragon that the God of the Symbiotes Knull controls. "Haha. Man, you guys and this Easter egg thing," Cates replied. "I'm telling you, you're NEVER going to find it." Cates went on to say that only he and artist Ryan Stegman know what the Easter egg is.RELATED: Action-Packed King in Black Art Introduces the X-Men to Marvel's Venom-Driven Event

This is not the first time a super-secret Easter egg has been placed in a Marvel property. Writer/director James Gunn placed a secret Easter egg in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film and says that no one has been able to guess what it is yet.

The first issue of Venom -- drawn by Ryan Stegman -- would sew several seeds for Cates' run, including the presence of Knull and Eddie Brock slowly re-entering into his anti-hero phase. Cates and Stegman would reunite for the Absolute Carnage and plan to conclude the "Knull Trilogy" with the King in Black miniseries, which sees Venom and the other heroes of the Marvel Universe battling Knull when he descends on Earth.
