Venom continues to do major business overseas earning millions at the box office each day and, after Thanksgiving weekend, has surpassed two other recent superhero films as it continues its box office dominance.
The Sony film earned $21.3 million this past weekend at the foreign box office bringing its international total to $610 million with a worldwide total of $822 million.
Sony's VENOM ate up another $21.3M internationally this weekend, $610M total, and a box office buffet of $822M worldwide. Yes, it just passed WONDER WOMAN. Insane numbers. Marvel madness continues.— Exhibitor Relations Co. (@ERCboxoffice) November 25, 2018
This puts it over the lifetime total of the DCEU's Wonder Woman, which earned $821.8 million last year. It also places Venom over the MCU's international box office totals for last year's Spider-Man: Homecoming, which earned $546 million overseas; the film ultimately earned a combined $880.2 million worldwide.
Despite lukewarm reviews, the Sony film has been a massive hit with audiences, especially in China where it has earned well over $200 million and counting. While the film isn't expected to outperform the combined totals for Spider-Man: Homecoming or 2007's Spider-Man 3, which earned $890.9 million to become the highest-earning Spider-Man film to date, the film has certainly defied box office expectations since its debut last month.
In theaters now, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, Sope Aluko, Scott Deckert, Marcella Bragio, and Michelle Lee.
