Despite receiving less than favorable reviews from critics, Venom and its sequel Let There Be Carnage have been a hit with worldwide audiences, with the second installment of the franchise achieving record numbers in terms of ticket sales during the pandemic. This is in no small part thanks to the relationship between main character Eddie Brock and his symbiote, Venom.

Eddie and Venom's peculiar bond is loaded with LGBTQ subtext. Eddie has struggled to accept his new life as a symbiote's host, and it hasn't always been easy. In Let There Be Carnage, the two have such a terrible fight that Venom actually abandons Eddie for a brief time. While they do make amends and are in perfect sync in the fight against Carnage, some anime characters may have been better suited to Venom than Eddie.

10 Esdeath's Ice Manipulation Powers Originate From A Teigu That Drives People Insane (Akame Ga Kill!)

Esdeath In Akame Ga Kill

The main villain in Akame Ga Kill!, Esdeath is notorious for both her cruelty and her catastrophically powerful ice manipulation abilities. This skill originates from a very rare teigu, a magical artifact called Demon's Extract that manifests as a chalice of blood. Until Esdeath, anyone who attempted to wield it was driven insane, constantly hearing voices in their heads.

Esdeath's tremendous willpower allowed her to control and overcome this side-effect. She would be able to do something similar with a symbiote. She would not be overwhelmed or frightened by the power Venom offered. Instead, she would welcome it, as it would give her yet another advantage and a weapon against her foes.

9 Deku May Have Happily Accepted Venom As His Quirk (My Hero Academia)

deku grumpy from my hero academia

At the beginning of My Hero Academia, protagonist Izuku Midoriya is Quirkless. As a result, he is the target of vicious bullying from his peers, with his former friend Katsuki Bakugou being the ringleader. Even his idol, All Might, tells him he can't be a hero. After all that, the Quirkless Izuku may have happily accepted Venom. He'd have been a little overwhelmed at first, but Venom would have improved his life.

There may have been issues with Venom's desire to eat brains, though, so Izuku's path may have diverged from regular heroics and turned to somewhat bloodier vigilantism. Still, Deku would have had a true friend, a protector, and someone who could help him achieve his dream without breaking his body.

8 Eren Yeager Learns To Master The Power Of The Titans (Attack On Titan)

Ichiko Wins Another Day In Good Luck Girl

Originally an idealistic young warrior who wishes to avenge his mother, Eren changes a lot throughout Attack on Titan. He learns that not everything is black and white, and the freedom of his people must come at a heavy price. For this reason, he fully embraces the powers of the Titans.

As a young man, Eren has trouble controlling the Attack Titan inside him, but this changes once he matures, and he is capable of transforming at will. Eren would have no issue with the power or the needs of a symbiote.

7 Natsuki Subaru Desperately Needs A True Friend (Re: Zero)

Subaru is surprised in re:zero

When he is transported into a different world, Re: Zero's Natsuki Subaru is overjoyed, as he feels this is his chance to be a hero. Things don't go well for him, as the magic he has been granted – Return by Death – is more a curse than a gift. It often makes his situation worse instead of better.

A shut-in NEET suffering from a severe insecurity complex, Natsuki struggles a lot with his relationships. Much like Eddie and Venom, Natsuki is a loser and doesn't have anyone who can understand him. Venom could have been the true friend he so desperately needed, a sounding board for his decisions and the sole person he could share his secrets with.

6 Tatsuya Shiba Is Already A Living Weapon (The Irregular At Magic High School)

shiba tatsuya

In The Irregular At Magic High School, Tatsuya Shiba originally becomes a student at First High School as a Weed. In terms of magical talent, he is supposedly weak. In reality, he is born a specialized magician, excelling at Decomposition, Regrowth, and Elemental Sight. This overpowers his Magical Calculation Area. His mother and her twin sister perform an operation on him, installing an artificial magical processor that allows him to circumvent it at the cost of his emotions. His Self-Regeneration even protects him from taking too much damage.

The powers the symbiote could give him wouldn't even phase him. Tatsuya would just accept them and move on. As long as the symbiote didn't pose a threat to his sister Miyuki, they'd likely coexist quite happily, as Tatsuya's work would probably allow Venom to feed with no issue.

5 Yuji Itadori Can Hold Back The Power Of The King Of Curses (Jujutsu Kaisen)

yuji itadori

The protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori finds himself thrown into an entirely different world when he swallows the finger of Sukuna, the King of Curses. He becomes the vessel of the cursed spirit, but much to everyone's surprise, he has the uncanny ability to hold Sukuna's power at bay.

Sukuna does trick him into a Binding Vow, but Yuji is never scared of him. He would likely take Venom's presence in stride, embrace the Symbiote's power, and possibly become a Lethal Protector much sooner than Eddie does.

4 C.C. Would Appreciate A Companion In Her Immortal Life (Code Geass)

cc with immortality mark code geass

Before Code Geass's protagonist Lelouch vi Britannia ever entered the picture, the witch C.C. struggled a lot with her immortality. C.C. only ever wanted to be loved, but her Code made that wish irrelevant as everything around her turned to dust and died. Trapped by her own power, C.C. resorted to contracts in the hope of finding someone to take her Code.

C.C. could find an alternate solution in Venom. With Venom by her side, she would have never felt lonely. He would give her a different perspective in life and allow her to feel anew. He would protect her from the people who wanted to harm her.

3 Hideyoshi Nagachika Takes Even The Weirdest Things In Stride (Tokyo Ghoul)

Tokyo Ghoul's Ken Kaneki may be amazingly powerful, but his friend Hideyoshi Nagachika is remarkable in other ways. Despite figuring out that Kaneki is a ghoul, Hide never rejects his friend and only ever wants to help him. In the manga, he even encourages Kaneki to eat him.

While his unfaltering friendship doesn't kill him, it does leave him badly disfigured. This type of understanding and loyalty would be exactly what Venom would need. It would certainly help that Venom's unique abilities would allow Hide to heal from his previous injuries and fit in better with his ghoul friends.

2 Sasha And Misha Necron Already Understand True Symbiosis (The Misfit Of Demon King Academy)

sasha misha misfit of demon king academy

In The Misfit of Demon King Academy, twin sisters Sasha and Misha have a peculiar dynamic. Misha is actually not supposed to exist. Their ancestor Ivis cast a spell on Sasha upon her birth, splitting her in two, with one half becoming Misha. Upon Misha's fifteenth birthday, she is supposed to reunite with Sasha, erasing her and creating a more powerful demon.

Through the intervention of Anos Voldigoad, Misha is given an existence of her own, but the sisters can still become one person on a temporary basis. Their unique situation makes them have a deep understanding of true symbiosis. They would not judge Venom for his more bloodthirsty impulses and would be able to embrace his power, maybe even sharing the symbiote within their two bodies.

1 Tatsumi Oga Has An Almost Symbiotic Relationship With Baby Beel (Beelzebub)

beelzebub

Being a rude and violent delinquent may occasionally seem like a good idea, but it doesn't pay off. Beelzebub's Tatsumi Oga finds that out the hard way. His sadistic and self-centered behavior makes him the ideal parent for the son of the Demon Lord Beelzebub III, Baby Beel. Originally, Tatsumi rejects the bond between him and Baby Beel.

As that changes and he goes through extended training, he is able to channel Baby Beel's demonic magic into Zebul spells of great power. With Venom, he would have an even easier time, as he wouldn't have to worry about constantly carrying a baby on his shoulder. Venom's abilities and personality would be a perfect match for Tatsumi, but others may not be as happy with the new development.
