With the cast of Spider-Man: No Way Home supporting a web of possibilities thanks to the introduction of the multiverse to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the internet has gone wild with speculation after seeing Venom 2 star Tom Hardy recently wearing what appears to be a No Way Home production hat. After the picture of Hardy -- who plays Eddie Brock/Venom in the upcoming Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie -- made its way online from the Twitter account Spider-Man Brasil, fans have been quick to share their excitement as to what the No Way Home hat could possibly signify. Speculation has ranged from Venom being the final member of the Sinister Six, instead of Paul Giamatti's rumored Rhino or Rhys Ifans' Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man films, to the hat meaning nothing at all, a post-credits tease or simply being fake altogether.Related: Venom 2: Tom Hardy Promises Woody Harrelson’s Carnage Is ‘Deliciously Wicked’

Hardy is not the only actor to have been a recipient of No Way Home casting rumors. The Amazing Spider-Man's Andrew Garfield has had to deny rumors of his involvement with the film several times over this past year, even debunking an edited "leaked" image of himself apparently working on No Way Home.

While fans may be clambering to see Hardy's Venom face off with Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Venom 2 director Andy Serkis has recently addressed why he thinks it's a good thing neither Sony nor Marvel appears in a rush to have the two characters meet anytime soon. "It's gonna happen; of course, it's gonna happen," Serkis said. "If people want more Venom stories, then to jump straight to Spider-Man, you could be missing out on so many great supervillain characters between now and then."

Catch Tom Hardy's Venom alongside Woody Harrelson as Carnage when Venom: Let There Be Carnage is unleashed into theaters Oct. 1.
