Venom producer Amy Pascal has provided an update on the film's upcoming sequel.

For one, Tom Hardy will return to star in the sequel. "I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can," Pascal told Fandango.

Pascal went on to describe what she believes contributed to Venom's success, saying, "It's a couple of things. One of them is that Sony did a great job creating that franchise and giving it a life and giving it its own world. Then there's Tom Hardy. When you think of Venom, you'll never be able to think of anyone but Tom Hardy sitting in that bathtub of lobsters. And once you saw Tom Hardy do this character, that's all you needed to know."

She did speak on the possibility of Venom and Spider-Man sharing the screen together, but was unclear on if it would be Tom Hardy's Venom and Tom Holland's Spider-Man when it came time. The two characters once shared a screen together in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 in 2007. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently said that a Spider-Man/Venom movie is "likely."
